Who it's for
Best for 3.5+ players who prioritize control and reach who play with a balanced two-handed/one-handed mix. The standard shape rewards clean contact, the 19mm core gives you a soft touch window, and the face surface keeps spin honest without overdoing it.
Should you buy the Selkirk Luxx Control Air Epic 19mm InfiniGrit?
Best for
3.5+ control-first doubles dinkers; plush 19mm control core, resets and counters at the kitchen over power.
Who should buy the Luxx Control Air Epic 19mm InfiniGrit
Buy it if you're a 3.5+ control-first dinker or counter-puncher who wins at the kitchen line and wants the plushest, deepest sweet spot Selkirk makes. The thick 19mm core soaks up pace for clean resets, and the InfiniGrit surface delivers raw-carbon-level spin that lasts far longer than the spray-on textures that wear off.
Who should skip it
Skip it if you're a power player or banger. A 19mm control core is built to deaden pace, not generate it, so easy put-away pop isn't its job and it'll fight a swinging game. Budget shoppers should pass too - you can get most of the control feel for under $150, and you're paying a top-two-brand premium here.
The main tradeoff
The thick control core that deadens pace for resets is the same thing that caps your put-away power. This is a touch paddle first - you add pace with mechanics, not off the face.
Is it worth it?
At $280 you pay a Selkirk premium, and the InfiniGrit's spin durability is the real upgrade over the old spray-on grit. Justified for the serious control player who'll keep it for years; overkill if you just want a control paddle - the $150-220 carbon control field is excellent.
