Who it's for
Best for advanced power players (4.0+) who can manage a hot face who play with a balanced two-handed/one-handed mix. The standard shape rewards clean contact, the 12.7mm core delivers high pop with a tighter touch window, and the face surface keeps spin honest without overdoing it.
Should you buy the Engage Pursuit Pro1?
Best for
4.0+ advanced spin players; thin, fast, gritty carbon, topspin rolls and quick kitchen hands over forgiveness.
Who should buy the Pursuit Pro1
Buy it if you're an advanced (4.0+) roller who weaponizes spin and wants a thin, fast 12.7mm core for hand-speed at the kitchen. Engage's gritty carbon face bites hard for topspin and slice, and the thin core plays poppy with a whippy feel on full swings - a paddle for players who already strike the ball cleanly and want to shape it.
Who should skip it
Skip it if you want a thick, forgiving control core. At 12.7mm this is thinner and more demanding - it punishes off-center contact, offers less deadening on resets, and several reviewers note a stiff, harsh feel. Beginners and touch-first dinkers should look thicker; this is not a forgiveness paddle.
The main tradeoff
The thin 12.7mm core that gives you hand-speed and a whippy pop gives up forgiveness, reset deadening, and softness - the feedback is stiff and harsh. It rewards clean contact and punishes mishits.
Is it worth it?
At $179.99 it's fairly priced for a dedicated advanced-spin paddle. Worth it for the 4.0+ roller who'll use the grip and the quick core; over-paddle for an improving player, who'd get more touch and forgiveness from the thicker, cheaper Pro MX.
